We therefore actively seek meaningful partnerships with:
Our partnership philosophy is based on shared purpose, accountability and measurable outcomes.
We are interested in partnerships that bring together capital, expertise, infrastructure, technology, research and community reach to create sustainable impact.
Our work may encompass:
Gynaecological health education
Cancer awareness and early-detection advocacy
Women’s reproductive health education
Community outreach
Access and referral support
Research into women’s health challenges
We believe women’s health must be approached with dignity, cultural sensitivity, evidence and accessibility.
Food insecurity can affect anyone—families experiencing financial hardship, older people, vulnerable households, single-parent families and individuals facing sudden economic difficulty.
The Lara Food Bank seeks to provide practical, dignified and timely food support to people experiencing food insecurity.
Our approach
The programme may include:
Emergency food assistance
Providing food support to individuals and families facing immediate hardship.
Community food distribution
Working with community organisations and partners to reach people who need support.
Nutrition-conscious food support
Where feasible, ensuring food assistance considers nutritional value rather than focusing only on quantity.
Support for vulnerable households
Prioritising individuals and families whose circumstances place them at increased risk of food insecurity.
Partnership with donors and businesses
Creating structured opportunities for individuals, retailers, food producers and organisations to contribute surplus or donated food responsibly.
More than a food parcel
We want the Lara Food Bank to be built around dignity, respect and human connection.
Our ambition is eventually to complement emergency food assistance with signposting to wider support, including healthcare, education, skills development and economic empowerment.
Feed today. Empower tomorrow.
That is the principle behind the Lara Food Bank.
Prevention, early detection, health education, nutrition, physical activity and informed decision-making all play an important role in improving population health.
Our health and wellbeing initiatives may therefore include:
Our aim is to help communities move from a predominantly reactive approach to health towards greater awareness, prevention and early intervention.
Millions of people possess potential but lack the practical skills, experience or opportunities required to translate that potential into sustainable employment.
RLOF seeks to develop vocational and employability pathways that help people build confidence, competence and economic independence.
Potential areas include:
Our programmes will seek to connect training with real-world opportunity.
Where possible, this means working with employers, businesses, training institutions and industry professionals so that beneficiaries gain skills with genuine practical relevance.
Our objective
Don’t simply give someone an opportunity. Help them become capable of creating opportunities for themselves.
RLOF seeks to support educational opportunities that improve access to knowledge, professional development and practical skills—particularly for individuals who may otherwise struggle to access such opportunities.
Our education programmes may support:
Scholarships and educational assistance
Helping deserving individuals access education and training.
Health education
Improving public understanding of cancer, prevention, early warning signs, healthy living and appropriate healthcare access.
Healthcare workforce development
Supporting learning and professional development for healthcare workers.
Public awareness and community education
Making important health and social information understandable, accessible and actionable.
Digital and professional skills
Supporting people to develop skills relevant to the modern economy.
RLOF’s Economic Empowerment programmes are designed to support individuals and communities in developing sustainable livelihoods, financial resilience and productive capacity.
Our approach may include:
Skills development
Providing practical skills linked to income-generating opportunities.
Entrepreneurship support
Helping emerging entrepreneurs develop viable micro and small businesses.
Mentorship
Connecting beneficiaries with experienced professionals and business leaders.
Enterprise development
Supporting business planning, market access and operational capability.
Women and youth empowerment
Creating targeted pathways for groups that can experience disproportionate economic barriers.
Financial capability
Promoting practical understanding of saving, budgeting, business finance and responsible financial decision-making.
From assistance to empowerment
RLOF recognises that financial support can be important at moments of vulnerability. But sustainable impact requires looking beyond immediate assistance.
Our ambition is to help people move from:
Need → Support → Skills → Opportunity → Income → Independence.
Too much of the world’s medical evidence is generated in settings that differ significantly from the demographic, genetic, environmental, socioeconomic and healthcare realities of West African populations.
RLOF therefore seeks to support a growing culture of locally relevant cancer research and innovation.
Our research interests include:
Population and epidemiological research
Improving understanding of cancer patterns within Nigerian and West African populations.
Clinical research
Supporting ethically conducted research that can improve diagnosis, treatment and patient outcomes.
Translational research
Encouraging the movement of promising scientific findings into practical healthcare applications.
Patient-centred research
Understanding the lived experience of cancer and how services can better respond to patient needs.
Prevention and early detection
Supporting research and programmes that improve awareness, screening and earlier presentation.
Health systems research
Exploring practical ways to improve access, referral pathways, treatment continuity and cancer-care infrastructure.
Research with purpose
Our objective is not research for research’s sake.
We want evidence that can help clinicians, policymakers, institutions and communities make better decisions.
The long-term ambition is to support research that contributes to:
Better evidence → Better policy → Better practice → Better patient outcomes.
Where appropriate, RLOF will work with universities, hospitals, clinicians, research institutions, pharmaceutical and technology partners and other stakeholders to support ethical and scientifically robust research.
care must recognise the whole person—their medical needs, emotional wellbeing, family circumstances, financial realities and quality of life.
Through partnerships, programmes and initiatives such as the Lara Olowookere Specialist Centre (LOSH), RLOF seeks to contribute to a stronger specialist healthcare ecosystem, with particular emphasis on oncology and gynaecology.
The Lara Olowookere Specialist Centre — LOSH
LOSH is conceived as a specialist oncology and gynaecology hub working in collaboration with relevant health institutions and stakeholders, including the Lagos State health system and Gbagada General Hospital.
Its ambition is to contribute to a model of cancer care that is:
Specialist. Personalised. Evidence-informed. Compassionate. Collaborative.
LOSH seeks to support patients through the complexity of cancer—from understanding a diagnosis and navigating treatment options to receiving appropriate specialist care and continuity of support.
A more complete approach to cancer care
Cancer affects far more than the tumour itself.
It can affect a person’s:
RLOF therefore advocates for an approach to cancer care that considers the patient as a whole.
Where appropriate and clinically justified, LOSH aims to facilitate access to specialist oncology pathways and emerging treatment approaches through appropriately qualified clinicians and partner institutions.
The Foundation’s role is not to replace conventional medicine, but to support safe, evidence-informed and multidisciplinary care pathways.
